About CarRentalMatch
CarRentalMatch is a specialty car-rental matcher. We plan the trips you can't do without a car — national parks, scenic road trips, and the tricky rentals other sites gloss over — then compare booking partners to match you to the right vehicle. We are a comparison website, not a car-rental company.
Most "compare car rentals" sites throw a generic search box at you and hope. The hard part was never the search box — it's knowing what you actually need: whether you need a car at all, what vehicle suits the trip, and how to handle the awkward cases like one-way, monthly, under-25, or no-deposit rentals. That's the gap CarRentalMatch fills: the trip planning first, then the match.
Who it's for
Travelers planning a specific trip where a rental car is part of the plan — a national-park road trip, an island where the bus won't cut it, a wedding that needs the right car, a long-term or one-way rental that most sites make needlessly hard. If you're deciding whether to rent and what to rent, this is for you.
How we compare — our methodology
We want you to trust the match, so here is exactly how it works:
- We start with the trip, not the car. Every guide begins by answering whether you even need a rental — and we say "no, you don't" when that's the honest answer (see our "do you need a car in X" pages). We'd rather be right than earn a commission.
- We compare aggregators, not a single supplier. Our search and links go through booking partners that resell many rental suppliers, so you see a range of prices rather than one company's rate card.
- We name our partners and disclose commissions. We earn a commission when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you. Which programs we use is on our affiliate disclosure.
- We date our data. Prices, fees, and coverage terms change, so our comparison pages carry a "last updated" date and we tell you to confirm the current terms at booking.
- Commissions never change the ranking. When two options tie on what matters for your trip, we say so — and we point out when the cheaper or free option is the right call.
What we publish
- Trip guides — national parks, camper-van road trips, and scenic drives, each with the rental to match.
- "Do you need a car in X" — honest yes/no/depends answers for cities and islands.
- Rentals by vehicle & city — luxury, van, SUV, EV, wedding, and classic.
- Tricky rentals — one-way, long-term, monthly, under-25, no-deposit, no-credit-card.
- Comparisons — booking sites and coverage options, with dated data.
